It's safe to eat pork PDF Print E-mail
ImagePeople shouldn't have any qualms about eating pork because swine flu is not spread through food.

Human contact 'the real worry'

The real concern was human to human contact with someone who had visited a country dealing with an outbreak of swine flu. (For eg: Mexico)

The World Health Organisation says properly handled and prepared pork doesn't pose any danger.

"The swine influenza virus is killed by cooking temperatures of 70 degrees Celsius, corresponding to the general guidance for the preparation of pork and other meat."
