![]() Kachari ruins ![]() Kachari ruins situated in Dimapur is one of the important sites of megalithic culture. Most of the ruins appear to be contemporaneous with the Kachari civilization. Though the Kacharis are predominantly non-Aryan with elaborate rituals and the cult of fertility, there are evidences of a touch of Hindu influence on most of them. Dimapur contains ruins of temples, reservoirs and other monuments of which the most notable are their monolithic structures. The monoliths represent the elaborate rituals of the cult of fertility. The beautifully executed entrances to these monuments is in pristine condition even now. Blocks of stone and brick pieces with various designs that lie scattered, still reveal the artistry. The North-East Zone Cultural Center (NEZCC) North East Zone Cultural Center (NEZCC), one of the seven zonal cultural centers of the country, was established in 1986 with headquarters at Dimapur. It is an autonomous body under Department of Culture, Government of India. NEZCC operation areas include Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura.NEZCC strives to create cultural awareness and to identify, nurture and promote vanishing folk art traditions in the rural and semi-urban areas of the north-eastern states. It also organizes cultural festivals with the state departments and non-governmental organizations. Intanki Wildlife Sanctuary The Sanctuary lies about 37 Km away from Dimapur. The Sanctuary is under the preservation of the Forest Wildlife Department. It is home to various animals including some rare species of birds.

Rangapahar Reserve Forest Dimapur houses the Rangapahar Reserve forest (20.20 hectares) in its vicinity. It is home to many animals and birds which make this reserve a nature lover's haven.
