ImageDimapur, May 27: The human trafficking situation in North East states has reportedly raised eyebrow of North East people once again as most of the young girls and women were being trafficked on the pretext of better livelihood options and getting exploited in the process.

According to NEDAN Foundation report the cases has been on raise, with 10 such cases of North East girls being rescued during the raid and rescue operations by different Anti- Trafficking Organizations in the last three months.

It stated that these cases have been referred to NEDAN Foundation for the repatriation process for which NEDAN Foundation had already started informing other partner organizations of Assam and North East for repatriating the girls.

One girl hailing from Nagaland, who was rescued from commercial sexual exploitation at Goa was rehabilitated at the State Protective Home, Goa, the report said. It was reported that NEDAN was facilitating for her return after sub-divisional magistrate had passed an order for her release. Similarly two girls from Baksa district of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) and a Karbi girl from Morigaon District, Assam were also rescued from different places.

NEDAN report said five minor girls were also rescued and repatriated from Bangalore, all of them hailing from Basti Kukila Posti, Sumpur/Gohpur District, Assam.
