Dimapur, June 14 (MExN): Peace Channel Nagaland on Saturday organized a seminar emphasizing “The Role of Youth as Peace Builder in Nagaland” at Christ Hall, Holy Cross Hr Sec. School Campus Dimapur. A press note from the Peace Desk informed that the seminar was attended by over 110 Peace club members representing 7 Schools of Dimapur region. Addressing the gathering, Rev Fr. George Angami, Principal, Holy Cross Hr Sec School in his message called upon the youth to be aware of the work of evils. “They come to as in an enticing manner to take us into its fold. To fight against all these odds and evils we need to be equipped and capacitated,” he said. He further exhorted the youth to set goals in life with the ultimate aim of spreading goodness and peace to one and all.

Kenet Rengma, finance secretary DNSU, addressing the gathering said that Peace is the need of the hour and everyone has to contribute to it. He appreciated the Peace Channel for coming forward to mould the youth towards peaceful coexistence and promote peace in the state. The resource person at the seminar, K Ela director of Prodigal Home highlighted the role of the youth as peace builders. The resource person dealt in depth on the current situation of the youth in respect to peace in the family, institutions and communities. “Youth are favorably placed in a position to be agents of change and progress. But, in their competence to comprehend the challenges of the world today; lies the key to bringing about transformation.” Further enumerating the qualities of a peace builder, the resource person said that ‘a peace builder should be a counselor, motivator, a guide, a forgiver and a lover of humanity’. The seminar concluded with an evaluation and action plan followed by the peace celebration, the press note stated.
