Naga youth murdered in Goa |

DIMAPUR, JUN 15: Tailing close behind recent publicised crimes against Nagas in the national capital, another incident has emerged
whereby a Naga youth has been stabbed to death reportedly by a former colleague in Panaji, Goa, on Sunday night at around 11:50 pm.
The body of the youth, identified as one Toshimongba Jamir (26), was recovered in a swimming pool on Monday morning with injury marks all over his body.
The victim was employed in Hotel Shree Punjab Classic in Panaji and was reportedly murdered by another employee Vikram Saba, a Nepali, in a suspected case of revenge. Goa police, after conduct of post-mortem, said he had been stabbed 22 times on the head, neck and stomach.
Talking to Eastern Mirrror, Dr Tosheto Awomi, a practicing Dentist in Goa who has taken on the responsibility of completing the paperwork and other formalities with the police, a misunderstanding had arise between the two on hotel related issues wherein the accused was fired by the hotel management.
Others sources from Goa said the accused Vikram had resigned from his job after the problem on the pretext of returning to Nepal. He had, however, stayed behind to take revenge on the victim and accordingly waylaid Toshimongba while he was returning home, they added.
The accused is at the moment reported to be absconding. Police have alerted its counterparts in other districts as well as other states so that the accused does not escape to Nepal. The police are also trying to contact a brother of the accused in Pune, Dr Tosheto informed.
The doctor, who is also handling the arrangements to send the body back home, said he will bear all the expenses of connecting flight to Dimapur if need arises. Since there was no relative to claim the body, the doctor had taken on the responsibility and had called up his own brother in Dimapur who contacted the family of the victim.
“The victim’s mother has expressed her desire to bury her son back home, so I am trying to complete all the formalities by tomorrow and send it by Wednesday or at the earliest,” he informed.
Son of Alemnungba of Longkong village, an NAP personnel currently posted at Aboi in Mon district, Toshimongba is learnt to have gone to Goa in June 2008 in pursuit of a job and found employment reportedly as assistant to the accused Vikram Saba, who was working as chef at Hotel Shree Punjab Classic, in the month of September last year.
