Rattle and Hum ‘Handshake concert’ in Mumbai |

Kohima, June 15: In a first of its kind venture to promote music beyond local boundaries, the Rattle and Hum Music Society, Nagaland in partnership with Rollingstone is organizing a music concert named ‘The Handshake concert’
in commemoration with World Music Day Celebration on June 21, 2009 in Mumbai.
Addressing media persons at Dream Café, Ser’s Bazaar, Theja Meru, President of Rattle and Hum said that the vision of the event is to celebrate music, unite musicians from across the country and promote the values of peace and friendship, by way of cultural exchanges.
The concert is scheduled at St. Andrews Auditorium, Bandra, Mumbai from 7pm onwards and entry is free.
It is an initiative of the Rattle and Hum’s Vision 2010 launched by Nagaland Governor K. Sankaranarayanan in 2008. It may be noted that the vision 2010 encompasses setting up facility to record one’s songs with the latest technology and aims to provide Naga musicians, a platform to showcase their talents outside the state.
The Society has earlier partnered with the North East Zonal Cultural Centre to organize the North East India Music Festival at Shilpgram in Guwahati.
The concert would feature 10 Naga musicians namely the Cultural Vibrants , Tetseo sisters (displaying their flair in traditional Naga music), Asin, renowned Soprano singer who holds a concert certificate from the Trinity College of London in voice with merit and Eximious, progressive rock music band which has taken part in the Hornbill National Rock contests and has Best Drummer, Best Bassist and Best guitarist titles to boot.
They would share stage with Grammy Award Winner Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and popular bands, Soulmate from Shillong and Hipnotribe from Mumbai.
Theja thanked the chief sponsor of the event, the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Nagaland and the Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency. He acknowledged others sponsors and partners like Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), India Post, Radio One and myspace.com.
Event patrons are Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu, T.R Zeliang, Kuzholuzo Nienu, Yitachu, Khriehu Liezietsu, KC Angami, Swarai Meru, Avituo Sekhose, Zaputuo Khezie, Rokosalie Angami and Hekani Jakhalu.
Deputy Chairperson, Kohima Municipal Council, and patron Khriehu Liezietsu and Naro Pienyu, Events Secretary, both of Rattle and Hum Music Society, Nagaland were also present.
