‘Forensic proof awaited in NPSC scam case’ PDF Print E-mail
DIMAPUR, JUL 6 (EMN): Responding to the questions and demands raised by the NSF on the status of the case pertaining to the manipulation/tampering of NPSC answer scripts, Commissioner and Secretary to the State Govt Temjen Toy today apprised that the delay in framing of charge-sheet against those accused has been primarily due to absence of Confessional Statement. In a letter to the NSF, the Commissioner and Secretary informed that the accused would be charge-sheeted once the Police receive the forensic proof of their crime. The forensic report, he added, is being expected very shortly. Throwing light on the status of the NPSC scam case, Toy informed that in the absence of Confessional Statement, it had become imperative on the part of the Police to get a forensic report/proof on the tampering of answer scripts.

The forensic examination was referred to Question Document Examiner, Kolkata, which expressed inability to take up the matter in view of the large number of CBI cases. On their advice, the documents were sent to the Government Forensic Science Laboratory at Kahilipara, Guwahati, Toy stated while adding that the accused persons will be charge-sheeted on confirmation of the forensic report, which is expected shortly. The two accused NPSC officials have already been placed under suspension. Calling for support from the NSF on the issue, the Commissioner Secretary assured that the State Government is fully seized of the matter and will spare no efforts in ensuring that the accused persons are brought to book.
