Dimapur cops seize ganja worth Rs 2 Lakh |

DIMAPUR, AUG 5: The Special Operation Team (SOT) of Dimapur Police Wednesday intercepted a vehicle (Tata mobile (NL 01A 3070) and arrested two persons on charges of illegally transporting contraband ganja worth lakhs of rupees at 6th Mile area at around 1:30 pm.
The two accused have been identified as Atozo Rote (21) and Bishnu Chetri (27). The contraband was reportedly being brought from Phaibung village, under Senapati district of Manipur state.
Briefing media persons on the seizure and the modus operandi of the accused, police said the persons were known to transport small consignments of the contraband concealed under loads of firewood. The activity of the two had been reported twice earlier using the same modus operandi. Police, who had been keeping track of their movements, were able to detect and nab them in this third attempt, it was informed.
The two accused in police custody have stated that the illegal consignment belonged to one Chasuru Poumai.
The ganja was reportedly bought at Rs 400 per kilo at the source village and was to have been sold for Rs 700 per kilo in Dimapur.
