Morung Express Dimapur, December 22: About a dozen leaders and active members from the Dimapur Congress has resigned from the party citing a good number of reasons of which one was that the local Congress leaders’ confidence could not be won. The resigned Congress leaders, including ones with decades’ service, have now pledged to work for the NPF. Among the resigned include the presidents of AYCC for 2-Dimapur-II, DCC, ACCC, vice presidents and secretaries. In separate resignation letters addressed to the president of the NPCC, AYCC president Orenthung Ngullie and DCC president Roben Lotha said the functioning of the Congress seems to have become more confusing than convincing and the grassroot-level parties are becoming the victims of the malady. “We have served the Congress party for (fifteen and thirty years respectively) but despite out best efforts, we could not win the confidence of our local elected leaders. So the selfless service rendered by us has all been in vain and our presence in the party has become inconsequential” the leaders stated. The leaders have appealed to all the Congress leaders who have a concern for the society’s future, to join the NPF as they have done. In a separate note from the leaders of the ACCC I Dimapur-1, a number of Congress leaders and active workers led by ACCC president KK Ngullie said to resign to join the NPF. The resigned leaders said that the move to resign was the ultimate outcome of loss of confidence in the Congress party. The Congress party has miserably failed in all fronts and has also failed to be a responsible opposition party in the state, the resignation letters stated. “On the other hand, the credibility of the NPF and DAN alliance has been witnessed through all round development in the last tenure and for which they have the mandate of the people today. Today we see NPF to be the only pragmatic party which is working for the welfare of the common people” the Congress leaders said. Other Congress leaders who resigned include PT Ngullie, general secretary of the ACC I Dimapur-1, Secretary John R Angami and vice president of Dimapur-1 Chumomo Ngullie along with others. |
