DIMAPUR, SEPT 17: A businessman was today reportedly robbed of cash amounting to around Rs five lakhs at Baroda bank, Church Road, where he had gone to make a deposit.
Two non-local miscreants snatched the amount by employing the trick of strewing currency notes on the floor and diverting the attention of the victim from his bag.
According to police sources, one of the miscreants pointed out to the victim of some amount of cash lying on the floor asking whether it belonged to him. While the victim was in the act of retrieving the notes, the miscreants snatched the bag which contained the money and bolted from the bank.
It may be recalled that there had earlier been numerous reports of victims being looted in bank premises by miscreants applying similar modus operandi.
Police had also made some arrests in this connection. There have also been instances in the city of itching powder being used to relieve victims of their handbags, cash or belongings.
