KOHIMA, DEC 6 (EMN): Governor of Maharashtra, SC Jamir has called upon the people of Nagaland including underground and overground leaders to bury hatchets and work with sincerity and unity to bring about peace in the land.
Launching the sixth day proceedings of the Hornbill Musical Festival at the Heritage Village, Kisama this evening, he said the present generation of the Nagas should leave a legacy of peace, unity and progressiveness without any disturbance from any quarter for the welfare of the future generation.
He also challenged the people of the State to create a congenial, peaceful and harmonious atmosphere so that the elders could see that the growth of the Naga youth is equal to the youths in the rest of the country and the world. Jamir appealed to every section of the Naga people to realise that Nagas are one and should live as one.
SC Jamir maintained that unless the Naga people change their mindset and have a vision for the future, they would be left behind in this fast changing 21st Century.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Governor also thanked the State Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for bringing up the infrastructure at the Naga Heritage Village for the future of the Naga people. He appreciated the concept which allows one to witness the coming together of 16 Naga tribes come together in unison during one festival, which has been aptly given the slogan Festival of Festivals. He further congratulated the present State Government for going international with the event.
