Hornbill 2009 most successful: Rio |

Kohima, December 8 (MExN): Pleased by the outcome of the just concluded Hornbill Festival – ‘Festival of Festivals’, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today termed the Hornbill Festival of 2009 as the most successful so far, which witnessed unprecedented participation from people belonging to all walks of life. Terming it “one of the most memorable and peaceful Hornbill Festivals in its 10 year history,” Rio observed that the event has become a truly international festival with participation from representatives belonging to several countries including Thailand, Myanmar, Korea and Japan.
The Chief Minister congratulated all the participants for making the seven-day event a resounding success. He observed that the Hornbill Festival of 2009 is the most successful so far and witnessed unprecedented participation from people belonging to all walks of life. The note from the CMO said the event has become a “truly international festival” with participation from representatives belonging to several countries including Thailand, Myanmar, Korea and Japan. The successful “Japanese concert”, the National Hornbill Rock Contest, the Hornbill Motor Rally and international cultural shows has elevated the festival to a new level and has opened the doors of Nagaland to the international community, the CMO stated.
“The Chief Minister on behalf of the state government conveys his thanks and appreciation to all concerned especially the tourists, both international and domestic, and also to the people of Nagaland who participated in the festival in an unprecedented manner making it one of the most memorable and peaceful Hornbill Festivals in its 10 year history,” the CMO stated.
The Chief Minister appreciated the government departments and agencies, entrepreneurs, hohos, NGOs, civil society and event managers for their all-out efforts in making the festival a grand success. Rio congratulated Yitachu, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, “for his exemplary leadership which has ensured a successful conclusion of the festival.” The Chief Minister also congratulated Khekiye Sema, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary for Tourism and Art & Culture, and the directors of Tourism and Art & Culture. They have all contributed towards making the Hornbill Festival 2009 a memorable event, Rio stated.
“The Chief Minister looks forward to the high level of contribution and cooperation from all sections in the years ahead so that together we can make Nagaland an attractive and unique destination for tourists from all over the world,” the CMO added.
