Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, of mutual Edward Scissorhands infamy, are currently tackling Lewis Caroll's mind-bendingly psychedelic classic fairytale Alice in Wonderland, for release in March 2010. This twisted re-visitation of the classic story aims to breathe new life into the fantasy by incorporating not only that familiar grotesque Tim Burton surrealism that made movies like The Nightmare Before Christmas such cult classics, but a heavily re-tooled plot, which involves now-19 year old Alice returning to Wonderland to revisit her quirky demons and settle unfinished business with the dreaded Queen of Hearts. No matter what the outcome, Depp as The Mad Hatter is guaranteed to be phenomenal.

As the first official movie Kevin Smith (Clerks, Dogma) has agreed to direct without having personally written the script himself, this twisted parody re-telling of the now-cliché "buddy cop" movie genre promises to be one of 2010's heavy-hitting comedies, especially featuring its slew of A-list stars like Bruce Willis and Kevin Pollak, and of course 30 Rock's Tracy Morgan.

Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe, the duo that broke the mold for action spectaculars and historical dramas with their 2000 Oscar-sweeping masterpiece, Gladiator, are back, this time taking on the legend of Robin Hood, and the myth behind the man to boot. To lend some credence to Robin's back story, this version plans to develop his character first as a loyal archer fighting the Norman invaders in Richard the Lionheart's army, and second as the noble outlaw. Both Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe are well known for their intense drama and epic action sequences, so be prepared for both. Releases May 14, 2010.

The Rum Diary, based on Thompson's critically acclaimed novel of the same name, follows New York journalist Paul Kemp in his move to Puerto Rico to write for The Daily News, and the dark psychological web of deception, betrayal, violence, lust, and alcoholism he encounters among the other expat American writers there.

Full details of the plot remain unknown as it is still in production, but fans of the show can count on all the familiar hilarious hijinks they came to love on the show from this highly-anticipated big screen adaptation which continues the saga of the infamously dysfunctional Bluth family.

Robert Pattinson, best known as Twilight's hunky pretty-boy vampire Edward Cullen, stars in this tragic romantic drama about two young lovers and their heartbreaking struggles with individual family tragedies and their strains on the new relationship as these personal traumas threaten to tear each - and both - of them apart. Premiers in theaters February 12, 2010, but everybody already seems to be talking about the Remember Me movie, making it a serious competitor for Most Anticipated Movie of 2010.

Possibly the single most anticipated movie for 2010, Inception will be the latest effort from brilliant and absolutely sensational British writer/director Christopher Nolan, whose mainstream popularity skyrocketed after last year's breathtaking continuation of the Batman Begins saga, The Dark Knight. Nolan, whose body of work includes such psychological and cinematic masterpieces as Following, Memento, and The Prestige, will likely be remembered as one of the most intelligent and innovative directors of our time, and has movie buffs everywhere restlessly stewing in anticipation for Inception. The movie itself has remained a closely guarded secret since pre-production, and details about its mysterious script are few and far between, but according to rumors, the plot will revolve around a man's intense journey of psychological self-discovery as he unlocks and learns to control the very secrets of the universe itself within his own mind. Set to release on July 16, 2010, this will definitely be one no self-respecting movie-goer will want to miss, and is likely to set the bar very, very high for the 2011 Oscars.
