| Dimapur traders demand apology |

Morung Express Dimapur, Dec 24: Reacting to the press statement in which the Personal Security Officer (PSO) of H&FW Minister, ASI Khihilo Kath, wrote that the question of tendering apology and compromise does not arise, the business community of Dimapur during a meeting on Tuesday evening resolved to close all the shops on December 27 if the Minister and his bodyguards failed to tender a public apology on or before December 26. While questioning the reason for the physical assault on the businessman on December 20, the businessmen have also questioned the responsibility of the PSO for allowing the jawan to carry arms while not in the service of the minister. Student organisations and other civil bodies are also said to be supporting the business community and Dimapur District Chamber of Commerce in their fight against the atrocities and harassment meted out to shop owners. Irate businessmen during the meeting said “enough is enough. It is time to raise voice against the harassments meted upon us.” While pointing out that incidents of harassments, kidnapping, etc., were taking place everyday, the business community also urged upon the Dimapur District Chamber of Commerce to take preventive steps to protect businessmen. It may be recalled that the shop owner of M/s Sunny Shoe Store on Saturday last was assaulted by some uniformed bodyguards attached to the H&FW Minister under the claim that the minister’s wife had been insulted. |
