NIF confers award to Naga boy |

Dimapur,Jan 28 (NPN): Imli Toshi Namo of Nagaland received National Award (National 3rd Mechanical and Electronics) for developing Bamboo Lathe Machine for the removal of nodes and outer surface and Bamboo Fiber Composites (BFC).
The Fifth National Biennial Competition for innovations, ideas and traditional knowledge award was announced by National Innovation Foundation (NIF), Ahmedabad. The award function was held in Dr B.P. Pal Auditorium at IARI campus, New Delhi on November 18 where President Pratibha Devisingh Patil gave away awards to the winners.
Among Namo’s other innovations some of the notable ones include bamboo-strip making machine, weed uprooter for hilly region, steam egg-boiler and hot-water filter, incense stick making machine and the “hydrogen”, a zero energy water pump. Toshi has been supported financially by NIF for the development and dissemination of a few of his technologies.
He also hopes to introduce a new energy harnessing device called “Turbinators” (turbine generators) which will provide eco friendly, cost effective electricity from renewable energy sources like water and air.
