KOHIMA, FEB 14: With a view to revive work culture among the Naga youths and also help the educated unemployed youths get employment opportunities the Government of Nagaland is contemplating to declare the fiscal year 2010-2011 as the ‘Year of Entrepreneurs’. Delivering his speech during the 50 Golden Years celebration of well known humanitarian as well as class-I contractor, Vilelie Khamo at Mima village, Kohima today, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said that the Government will be declaring the 2010-2011 as the ‘Year of Entrepreneurs’ from the month of April. Maintaining that Nagas are still a consumer society, Rio once again said that it is high time Nagas become producing society by taking challenges in the field of entrepreneurship. He also said that besides encouraging the local entrepreneurs during the ‘Year of Entrepreneurs’, the Government would also phase out those entrepreneurs, which are claiming funds from the government but not producing any result.

Dwelling on the brief life history of Vilelie Khamo after releasing his biography entitled ‘A Prism’ authored by Buno Yhoshü and Imti K Jamir, Rio termed Khamo as a God fearing and humble person who had managed to build up himself from rags to the present status. Maintaining that despite studying only upto the sixth standard Vilelie managed to achieve great heights in his 50 years with humility, Rio said that the educated youths should take inspiration from his life and undertake noble ventures for their won development and for the uyplift of the society. He encouraged educated unemployed youths to seek employment avenues in private sector instead of depending on government sector in order to prosper. Rio who was a class-I registered contractor himself before joining politics, called upon the contractors and suppliers to work sincerely while carrying out developmental works in any part of the State. Stressing on ‘quality control’, he said even if politicians desire to take up developmental works they have to depend on contractors for carrying out the works with quality control. Earlier, conveying gratitude, Vilelie Khamo thanked retired Executive Engineer Y Chuba Ao, who gave him the turning point in life in the year 1983, his partners Seyiekuolie and KC Angami and many more for the bountiful opportunities. The celebration chaired by Kho-o Pfükha commenced with Rev. Dr. Neikedozo Paphino pronouncing God’s blessing. Host of Ministers, Parliamentary Secretary, MLAs, Bureaucrats, contractors and well wishers from all walks of life joined the celebration.
