Revamped traffic regulations for Dimapur PDF Print E-mail
Dimapur, February 25 (MExN): In an attempt to tackle the traffic congestion in Dimapur town, the Traffic Control, Dimapur has revamped the traffic regulations, which will be implemented from March 1. In relation to that a Traffic Safety Awareness Week will be conducted on the first week of March. The awareness programme involves the district administration, prominent NGOs, school children and auto rickshaw drivers, informed the deputy superintendent of police (traffic) LL Lemtur in a press note. The note stated that the department will disseminate public safety information through banners, pamphlets and conducting seminars for auto rickshaw drivers. Moreover, the deputy superintendent in the note has given the new regulated traffic rules:

1. One-way movement of vehicles along Church Road will be allowed from Deluxe traffic Point to holy Cross traffic point from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on weekdays. 2. On weekdays, vehicles entering Church Road from Deluxe traffic point should take left lane to go towards Dhobi Nulla and the right lane to proceed towards City Tower. 3. Only One-way flow of traffic will be allowed along MP Road from GS junction to Deluxe traffic point. Single parking along MP Road shall be strictly enforced. 4. Only one-way movement of traffic will be allowed from Railway Road to the flyover. Vehicles will not be allowed to take the diversion from the flyover towards Railway Road. 5. For the convenience of school students, vehicles will be allowed to enter Church Road from Eros Lane and Anwar Hussein/ MST Road till 9:00 am. After 9:00 am the existing ‘No-Entry’ regulation will be in effect. 6. Henceforth even ‘two-wheeler’ vehicles will have to strictly abide by the ‘No-Entry’ and ‘One-Way’ regulations effective throughout Dimapur town. 7. In order to ensure the flow of traffic along the GS road, slow moving means of conveyance such as Cycle Rickshaws and handcarts/‘Thela Gari’ will be allowed to ply till 9:00 am only on weekdays. Handcarts/‘Thela Gari’ will also be allowed to ply from 5:00 pm onwards.
