Nagaland Post Dimapur, Dec 25: The 9 Assam Rifles (Subansiri Battalion) proved to be the "Friends of the Hill People" in the true sense of the word when approached by Dr Kika Longkumer, District Leprosy Officer, Mokokchung to help Lathura, resident of a remote village Moya in Kiphire, who was brought to Dist Hospital, Mokokchung with complaints of profuse bleeding from the internal organs in an advanced stage of pregnancy. After evaluation at the Hospital, she was diagnosed as a case of Placenta Praevia with a dead foetus inside the uterus. As the patient was in a life threatening state, she urgently required 03 units of A +ve blood. Even though only 03 units of blood were required, the soldiers were more than enthusiastic to donate blood and save the lady. Timely blood donation by the battalion ensured her survival and further treatment. |
