Dimapur, March 2 (MExN): Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) has found a place among the high ranking colleges of India and is now a College with ‘potential for excellence’. PCC is one of the colleges included in a recently published list of Colleges (XI Plan, CPE, Phase-III) selected under the scheme ‘Colleges with Potential for Excellence’ by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in their website.
Expressing pride at the inclusion and appreciating the UGC “for considering Patkai with the status of a college with potential for excellence”, N Kiso, assistant accountant at PCC, in a press note, stated that Patkai Christian College was well recognised by the UGC, NAAC and other educational agencies. “We are proud that at least one college in Nagaland could come under the scheme,” added Kiso. Colleges are selected based on the outstanding levels of performance in the field of teaching, research and extension activities and hold promise of excellence.
The parameters for selection of colleges under the scheme are transparency in admissions, consistent academic improvement, introduction to innovative curriculum, strengthening of laboratories, improvement of the college library, use of IT and current technologies in respect of the academic and administrative activities of the college. In addition, students performance, students support and governance, participation in sports and other co-curricular and extra curricular activities by the students, retaining of teachers, improvement of examination system, research output, help provided to poor students, participation in community affairs, evidence of concern of environment, also count towards improving a college’s standing.
