78 Nagaland NGOs blacklisted |

Dimapur | March 4 : The Central Social Welfare Board has blacklisted at total of 78 Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) in Nagaland for reasons of a range of irregularities in various socio-economic programs. The Central Social Welfare Board said the 78 NGOs were blacklisted for “non-refund” of loans and also failing to submit audit accounts.
The Central Social Welfare Board has separate state-wise lists for all NGOs who have been blacklisted. The chart can be viewed at http://cswb.gov.in/. Nagaland showed 78 NGOs from most of the districts of Nagaland. According to the CSWB’s black-list 25 NGOs were listed as located at Kohima town; Dimapur – 10, Mokokchung -17, Wokha-7, Mon-1, Tuensang- 9, Kiphire – 1, Phek-2, Changtongnya -7 and Jakhama had 3 NGOs that got blacklisted.
The rest of the NGOs were listed under various names of villages or townships in the state and did not mention districts. The economic and working sectors the blacklisted NGOs apparently were engaged in, ranged from piggery, cattle farming, agriculture, “destitute” work, “women welfare,” women and child welfare, “charity,” social welfare, old age welfare, rural economy or just plain “society.”
In a related matter, the Nagaland State Social Welfare Board was sanctioned Rs 4, 00, 000 Lakh while the amount released was Rs. 1, 00, 000 Lakh for the year 2009-2010 up to September 25, 2009. The chart for all the beneficiary-states can be viewed at http://cswb.gov.in/. The amount for Nagaland was stated under Centralized Awareness Generation Project Programme for the year 2009-2010. The chart showed that the Nagaland State Social Welfare Board has 40 camps and 1000 beneficiaries.
