No public reception for Th Muivah PDF Print E-mail
DIMAPUR, MAR 17: NSCN-IM supremo Thuingaleng Muivah will be in Nagaland for ten days starting from March 18 but this time there will be public reception at Dimapur Airport and public meetings or receptions at Camp Hebron. Disclosing this tonight, VS Atem, convenor of Steering Committee, the NSCN-IM’s highest decision making body, said that due to security reasons the Airport Authority of India (AAI) had requested the concerned organisations not to organize programme in the premises of the airport. “We realised the reason placed by the AAI so we did not request further to the authority,” said Atem. Muivah will arrive in Dimapur on Thursday by the Air-India flight and then he will go straight to the NSCN-IM’s headquarters Hebron.

As per information received, the NSCN-IM general secretary will leave Dimapur for New Delhi on March 28 to continue the ongoing talks with the GoI. On the reasons as to why no programmes, such as consultative meetings will not be organized this time, VS Atem explained that the general public do not like the idea of being asked for mandate again and again when the peoples’ mandates had already been given on the previous occasions. “Since all the tribes’ apex bodies and frontal organisations of the Nagas had already given their mandates on several occasions few years ago, the general public and the Naga public leaders want us to seek the peoples’ mandate only when there new developments crop up or a sort of break-through is happens in the Naga issue,” said Atem while adding, “Now that sustained talks with the Government of India is going on in New Delhi, we are hopeful that a new development may arise.” “However, the Ato Kilonser will attend the ‘Republic Day’ celebrations at Camp Hebron on March 21 where all the tribes representatives and public are invited,” informed Atem. NSCN-IM general secretary Muivah arrived in New Delhi from Amsterdam on February 27 and began the latest round of talks with the Centre from March 2. The NSCN-IM team met the Prime Minister and Union Home minister on the first day and thereafter sat down for talks with the Government’s interlocutor RS Pandey. Till date neither party have disclosed the outcomes of the talks.
