Muivah arrives, to visit hometown despite resistance PDF Print E-mail
DIMAPUR, MAY 2(EMN): NSCN-IM Ato Kilonser Th Muivah arrived in Dimapur today after the second round of talks at New Delhi. Accompanied by his wife Ikhris Muivah, he is all set to visit his hometown Somdal in Ukhrul district of Manipur state. Interacting with media persons on his arrival at the airport, the NSCN-IM general secretary dismissed Manipur government’s refusal to allow him entry into the state and said, “I am not a subject to them.” He made it clear that it was his birthright to visit his hometown if he wanted to and that there was nothing unnatural about it. “The Government of India has been considerate to me,” he added. Th Muivah, who will be visiting his hometown after a gap of four decades, said as a human being there are a lot of emotions attached to the place wherein one was born and brought up.

On the ongoing talks, Muivah reiterated that both negotiating parties are more committed and expressed confidence that positive progress will be made. “Both sides are trying its best to push the talks forward,” he said, adding that all efforts are being made towards this end. The NSCN-IM general secretary is expected to depart for his home visit on May 4. According to his itinerary, he will be in Somdal from May 4 to 7 following which he will visit Ukhrul town on May 8 and return to Somdal for Mother’s Day. On May 10, he is slated to visit Senapati district before returning back to Camp Hebron the same evening. Speaking over phone later in the evening, Camp Hebron sources said the Ato Kilonser, on reaching the headquarters, briefed senior officers on the ongoing talks and the progress made till date.
