DIMAPUR, JUN 28(EMN): The much anticipated DAN government’s flagship programme for year 2010 ‘Year of Entrepreneurship’ is yet to take off with implementing agencies still awaiting guidelines and modalities by the nodal department.
Speaking over phone, Commissioner and Secretary, Industries, Imkonglemba said the proposal sent to the department of Planning, the nodal department, is yet to get any response even as the year is set to enter the seventh month.
We have mooted a series of promotion programmes for 1000 selected entrepreneurs including national, regional and state level exhibitions, besides subsidies for manpower, power, etc, he informed. The best group selected from each district will be sent to national expos, the second at regional levels and the third at the state level, he added.
On the mode of selection, the Commissioner and Secretary said it has been left to the selection committee of each district to coordinate through Chambers of Commerce coinciding with the road shows.
The programme has been timed alongside the road shows which are being held with the principal festival of each district respectively.
The Commissioner and Secretary also informed that all selected candidates would be sent for a three-day awareness programme with the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship.
On a query, Imkonglemba said the official guidelines are likely to come through in the first or second week of July.
It was further pointed out that the flagship programme would be a process and the selected people would be trained accordingly. It has to be stage by stage process since taking up all 1000 selected entrepreneurs would be an impossible task, he said.
Meanwhile, the General Managers of the District Industries Centre (DIC) Mokokchung, Mon and Dimapur also confirmed that any official communication from the nodal department is yet to reach them. Normal training programmes and registration have been going on; however, any activity regarding the ‘Year of Entrepreneurship’ is yet to start, the GMs informed.
The DICs are the implementing agencies and the GMs said any related activity can take place only after the nodal department issues official guidelines and modalities on how programme is to be implemented.
On the response by the youth, the GM, Dimapur DIC, said few candidates from nearby villages have been turning up for information.
