Fresh assessment of vacancies directed PDF Print E-mail
KOHIMA, JUN 28 (EMN): The monthly meeting of the Administrative Heads of Departments and Heads of Departments, Government of Nagaland has directed all the departments to re-evaluate the total number of vacancies arising as a result of the Nagaland Retirement Act. Talking to this Correspondent over phone tonight, Chief Secretary Lalthara said the meeting decided to conduct fresh assessment of the vacancies arising in all the departments according to the grades within the next one week and re-advertise the entire vacancies to be filled up through NPSC or departmentally. Pointing to the objections raised over the recent advertisement for filling up of vacancies by the student body on the grounds that the number of posts advertised were too less, Lathara clarified that the problem is with the departments who, he said, have not submitted the exact number of vacancies that have come up. Hence, Monday’s meeting has directed the departmental heads to submit the exact number of vacancies according to the grades within next week, he informed.

On the implementation of the 6th RoP, the Chief Secretary said the house agreed that the employees should not ask beyond what is being offered by the State Government as the extra fund amounting to over Rs. 700 crore has been granted by the Central Government on special consideration. Stating that the Government has never failed to grant any Dearness Allowance to its employees nor failed to implement the pay commission, Lathara said the timing for implementation of the Pay Commission of Nagaland and Centre is different. The house has requested the AHODs and HODs to apprise their employees to accept the Government’s offer and not to blindly launch agitations without understanding the pros and cons, he said. Maintaining that the final decision lies with the State Cabinet, he was hopeful that a positive outcome would be forthcoming in the next sitting of the Cabinet scheduled for July 1. It was also learnt that the State Planning Department dwelled on the plan allocation for 2010-2011 and various projects to be implemented this fiscal. Beside, the meeting also discussed the upcoming Independence Day celebration as well as renovation of office rooms in the Secretariat offices.
