Dimapur police nab 14 criminals |

DIMAPUR, JUL 19 (EMN): The Dimapur police have detained 14 accused in connection with various criminal offences since July 14 last. Briefing media persons, Additional Superintendent of Police,
Sungit said that acting on a tip-off, cops on duty intercepted a Maruti car bearing Registration No. NL 01C 1275 at Naharbari junction, Purana Bazaar, and detained two accused namely Ch Saloni Mao and A Neli Mao for illegally possessing 60 kgs of contraband ganja on July 14 last at around 4 p.m.
In a separate incident, three persons were held for gambling during a surprise raid carried in a lodge at around 12 noon on July 16. The three accused have been identified as Mutipur, Robi Islam and Raju Saheb. Cash amounting to Rs 3,600 was seized and the three were remanded and booked under appropriate sections, ASP informed.
In yet another incident, one Guttu Lachit was held for possessing band IMFL at around 5 a.m. on July 19. Altogether, 679 quarter bottles of assorted IMFL were seized from his possession.
Further, acting on a tip off, three NSCN-K activists namely Athong Rongmei, ‘ss’ Corp Kughalu Sumi and ‘ss’ serg maj Masaka Kenny were arrested for demanding ransom from a business establishment on July 16 at around 4:30 p.m. One .32 pistol was seized from their possession.
In a separate incident, one NNC/FGN cadre along with two accomplices was detained on charges of demanding extortion on July 17 at around 5 p.m. The three accused have been identified as ‘ss’ pvt Mughato Yeptho, Shekato Aye and Ekheho Achumi.
Further, the SOT on Monday, during a house raid, detained one Ismail for possessing .22 pistol. A case has been registered and the accused booked under appropriate sections, police informed.
In a separate incident, one Vinato Aye was arrested for lifting a two wheeler at around 11 a.m. near IMC Hall junction. The stolen bike has been recovered, police informed.
