Dimapur, Dec 29: Consequent upon the ban imposed by the district administration on the sale of poultry and its products, the DMC rate control branch, Monday seized poultry eggs from traders at different locations under its jurisdiction for defying the order. The seized products were later destroyed. Co-convener of Rate Control Branch, DMC, S. Vihuto Yeptho in a press release cautioned all poultry traders within DMC’s jurisdiction not to sell poultry and its products till the ban is lifted.
It warned that defaulters would be penalized as per the law. Public have also been requested to co-operate with the DMC and report such matters through phone no. 03862-236815. The ban has been imposed in the wake of high alert sounded by the State Department of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry following the bird flu outbreak in Assam.
